3. Link your faydta.com account

Type /link into a direct message with the FAYDTA bot, then click the link it sends you. This tells FAYDTA that the Discord account named “Joe Smith” is the same person who owns “Joe’s Hardware” on faydta.com. Takes about a minute.

Without linking, Discord doesn’t know you’re a paying DTA member. So:

  • You can’t see #members-chat or other member-only channels
  • You can’t see board-only channels (if you’re on the board)
  • Your name in Discord won’t have the DTA Member badge

Linking fixes all of that automatically.

  • The FAYDTA Discord app open on your phone
  • About 1 minute
  • To be already logged in to faydta.com on the same phone (a separate browser tab is fine)

Tip: If you’re not logged in to faydta.com, do that first in your phone’s web browser. Visit faydta.com/login, sign in, then come back to Discord. Linking is much smoother when you’re already logged in.

1. Open a direct message with the FAYDTA bot

Section titled “1. Open a direct message with the FAYDTA bot”

The bot DMed you a welcome message when you first joined. Find that DM:

  1. Tap the three-line menu (≡) in the top-left of Discord.
  2. At the top of the side panel, tap the purple speech-bubble Discord home icon (your “home” — outside of any server).
  3. In your DM list, look for FAYDTA (the bot, not a person). It should have a small green checkmark badge next to its name.
  4. Tap that conversation.

If you can’t find the DM, that’s fine — you can also run /link inside any channel and the bot will move the rest of the conversation into your DMs for privacy.

  1. Tap the message box at the bottom.
  2. Type a forward slash: /
  3. As soon as you type the slash, a list of commands appears above the keyboard.
  4. Tap /link from that list. (Or finish typing it and tap the suggestion.)
  5. Tap the paper airplane to send.

Within a couple seconds, the FAYDTA bot will reply with a message that includes a link. It looks like:

Click this link to link your Discord to faydta.com: https://faydta.com/discord/link?token=

  1. Tap the link. Your phone opens it in a web browser.
  2. The page asks: “Are you sure you want to link this Discord account?”
  3. Tap Yes, link my account.
  4. The page will say “Linked! You can close this window.”

Switch back to Discord (close the browser tab, or use your phone’s app switcher). Within about 10 seconds you should see:

  • A new message from the FAYDTA bot in your DMs confirming the link worked.
  • New channels appear in the FAYDTA server (the member-only ones — like #members-chat).
  • A “DTA Member” badge next to your name the next time you post in any channel.

To check the new channels: tap the three-line menu (≡), tap the FAYDTA server icon (the purple F), and scroll the channel list. You should see a Members category that wasn’t there before.

If you’re on the DTA board, you’ll get the DTA Board badge and see the board channels too.

Someone already linked that Discord account. If it was you and you’ve forgotten, no action needed. If it wasn’t you, contact the board.

”Couldn’t find your faydta.com account”

Section titled “”Couldn’t find your faydta.com account””

Most likely you’re not signed in to faydta.com on this phone, or your session expired.

  1. Open a browser tab and go to faydta.com/login
  2. Sign in with your email and password
  3. Go back to Discord and run /link again

The bot might be offline (rare). Wait a minute and try again. If still no response, contact the board.

I shared my phone with somebody — is this safe?

Section titled “I shared my phone with somebody — is this safe?”

The link is one-time use and expires in 10 minutes. If someone else clicks it before you do, they’d link their Discord to your faydta.com — but only if they’re already signed in as you on faydta.com on that phone. So as long as your faydta.com password isn’t shared, the link is safe to tap.

Now that you’re linked, the most important next step is quieting notifications so Discord doesn’t drive you crazy.

Next: 4. Quiet down notifications →

  • Try logging out of faydta.com and back in, then run /link again.
  • The bot speaks to you only in DMs after /link — never in public channels — so your link URL is never visible to others.
  • Still stuck? Contact the board.
